About the UAMS Mindfulness Program
The UAMS Mindfulness Program was established in January 2019 under the stewardship of Dr. Puru Thapa through a grant from the UAMS Chancellor’s Circle of Excellence Fund to promote wellness in our students and residents/fellows.
The goals of the program are to:
- Offer formal mindfulness courses to UAMS students, residents/ fellows, and eventually to the rest of the UAMS community
- Offer drop-in guided mindfulness sessions at various locations on campus
- Increase awareness of the value of mindfulness practices through presentations in various forums, workshops, and other related activities
- Serve as a resource on mindfulness for the UAMS community
Mission and Values
The mission of the UAMS Mindfulness Program is to help members of the UAMS community achieve equanimity in pursuit of their professional and personal goals in life by teaching secular Mindfulness practices.
Our core values include respect for diversity, compassion and acceptance, and ongoing learning.
